The education of young minds

“And what is a good citizen? Simply one who never says, does or thinks anything that is unusual. Schools are maintained in order to bring this uniformity up to the highest possible point. A school is a hopper into which children are heaved while they are still young and tender; therein they are pressed into certain standard shapes and covered from head to heels with official rubber-stamps.”

H.L. Mencken

The most natural method by which the political class can ensure that, in the future, they can inherit a “compliant society” is to start with the education of children.

Does not this, this, this and this raise alarm bells with anyone? Just one person would do.

Are we all asleep and/or blind to what is happening to – and around – us? Do parents no longer take an interest in their children’s education?

One cannot but refer to Galatians 6:7 -:

“Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap.”

Here endeth the lesson………………..

One or two do escape that we are preached at skool – It is now up to us to “educate” the wrong’s that our masters wish to brainwash us with.

With regard to getting a balanced view of the EU into schools, I would ask people to support the efforts
of CIVITAS in this field. They produce excellent informative material for teachers and pupils. They also
arrange debates and presentations where pro and anti voices are given a platform. The schools which
I have visited as part of this programme were doing an excellent conscientious job. They were taking seriously their legal duty of presenting a politically contentious matter fairly.

But, of course, this is only reaching a minority of schools . We don’t know for sure what is happening elsewhere. Even without deliberate intention, it is likely that teachers will “go with the flow” of officially available material from the EU via the Ministry of Education and Local Education Authorities. This tends to regard the EU and its institutions as an established fact and therefore not contentious at all – merely the beneficent framework within which we are fortunate to live.

Edward, you are to be praised for your efforts and I am sure readers will be only too pleased to spread the word about the work you do.

  5. Education? Appalling here (jeez, this pale grey is SO pale I can hardly read what I am writing. Would you print a book in pale grey and white? No, you wouldn’t. Black please, for old eyes – this is ridiculous), but not yet as bad as what is happening in the USA
